Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 28: Dharmādharmalakṣaṇa in Āpad

Crisis-Discernment of Right and Wrong

so ’yaṃ vidhir vihitaḥ karmaṇaiva saṃvartate saṃjaya tatra karma | tatra yo ’nyat karmaṇaḥ sādhu manyen moghaṃ tasyālapitaṃ durbalasya, saṃjaya ||

Educational Q&A

That true spiritual or ethical discipline is not divorced from action: the ordained path functions together with karma (duty/action), and mere advocacy of abandoning action as ‘better’ is criticized as weak and futile.

Vāyudeva addresses Sañjaya in a didactic passage, emphasizing that prescribed order and even higher understanding are meant to be accompanied by action, rejecting a simplistic idealization of inaction/renunciation.
