Ambā’s Vow of Tapas after Paraśurāma’s Assessment (अम्बाया तपोव्रतनिश्चयः)
भीष्म उवाच भार्या तु तस्य राजेन्द्र द्रपदस्य महीपते: । महिषी दयिता हायासीदपुत्रा च विशाम्पते,भीष्मने कहा--प्रजापालक राजेन्द्र! राजा ट्रुपदकी प्यारी पटरानीके कोई पुत्र नहीं था
bhīṣma uvāca bhāryā tu tasya rājendra drupadasya mahīpateḥ | mahiṣī dayitā hy āsīd aputrā ca viśāmpate ||
قال بيشما: «أيها الملك، إن الملكةَ المحبوبةَ، زوجةَ ذلك الحاكم دروبادا، لم يكن لها ابنٌ؛ فبقيت بلا نسل، يا سيدَ الناس».
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the royal concern for lineage and succession: in a kingdom, the absence of an heir becomes a significant ethical and political pressure, shaping later decisions and alliances.
Bhishma informs the king that Drupada’s beloved chief queen was without a son (indeed, without offspring), setting up the background for subsequent events connected with Drupada’s family line.
