Indra-vijaya Upākhyāna and Śalya’s Assurance to Yudhiṣṭhira (इन्द्रविजयोपाख्यानम् — शल्ययुधिष्ठिरसंवादः)
ततस्तु भगवानिन्द्र: संहृष्ट:ः समपद्यत । वरं च प्रददौ तस्मै अथर्वाज्िरसे तदा,इससे भगवान् इन्द्र उनपर बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने उस समय अथर्वांगिरसको यह वर दिया--
tatastu bhagavān indraḥ saṁhṛṣṭaḥ samapadyata | varaṁ ca pradadau tasmai atharvāṅgirase tadā ||
ثم إن إندرا المبارك، وقد غمرته البهجة، أقبل عليه برضا؛ وفي ذلك الحين منح أتهرفانگيراسا (Atharvāṅgirasa) نعمةً بوعدٍ كريم—دلالةً على أن الاستحقاق الروحي الصادق وحسن السلوك القويم يجتذبان القبول الإلهي والعون الملموس.
शल्य उवाच
Divine favor (vara) is portrayed as responding to genuine merit and right spiritual conduct; the narrative frames boons not as arbitrary gifts but as acknowledgments of worthiness.
Śalya reports that Indra, becoming very pleased, approaches and grants a boon to the sage Atharvāṅgirasa, marking a turning point where approval is concretely expressed through a promised gift.
