Krishna’s Theophanic Display in the Kuru Assembly
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: yāvad ākhyāmy ahaṃ caitat kṛṣṇāyākliṣṭa-kāriṇe | “tāvat aham anāyāsena mahān karma karoti bhagavate śrī-kṛṣṇāya kauravāṇāṃ ṣaḍyantrasya sūcanāṃ dadāmi” | sa praviśya sabhāṃ vīraḥ siṃho giri-guhām iva ||
Timely communication and prudent warning are ethical duties in the face of wrongdoing. The verse frames alerting a capable, dharmic leader (Kṛṣṇa) about a conspiracy as a necessary step to restrain adharma and protect the vulnerable through wise counsel.
The narrator indicates that, even before completing the full account, the speaker/hero intends to inform Śrī Kṛṣṇa about the Kauravas’ plot. He then enters the royal assembly with the fearless resolve of a lion entering a mountain cave, signaling a tense political moment and imminent confrontation.
