Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel to Duryodhana for Pacification
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
kṛṣṇena vākyam ukto ’si suhṛdāṃ śamam icchatā |
anvapadyasva tat tāta mā manyuvaśam anvagāḥ ||
One should accept peace-seeking counsel from a well-wisher and not allow anger to dictate one’s decisions; restraint and reconciliation are presented as ethically superior to wrath-driven action.
Vaiśampāyana reports an admonition to the addressed person: Kṛṣṇa has spoken with the intention of maintaining peace among allies and relatives, and the listener is urged to follow that advice rather than succumb to anger.
