नारदकथितं माधव्याः तपश्चर्या–ययातेः स्वर्गविचारः | Nārada on Mādhavī’s Asceticism and the Scrutiny of Yayāti in Heaven

एकत: श्यामकर्णानां हयानां चन्द्रवर्चसाम्‌ । भगवन्‌ दीयतां महां सहस्रमिति गालव,ऋचीकस्तु तथेत्युक्त्वा वरुणस्यालयं गत: । अश्वतीर्थे हयॉल्लब्ध्वा दत्तवान्‌ पार्थिवाय वै ६ ।। “भगवन्‌! मुझे कनन्‍्याके शुल्करूपमें एक हजार ऐसे घोड़े दीजिये, जो चन्द्रमाके समान कान्तिमान्‌ हों तथा एक ओरसे उनके कान श्याम रंगके हों” गालव! तब ऋचीक मुनि “तथास्तु” कहकर वरुणके लोकमें गये और वहाँ अश्व॒तीर्थमें वैसे घोड़े प्राप्त करके उन्होंने राजा गाधिको दे दिये

ekataḥ śyāmakarṇānāṃ hayānāṃ candravarcasām | bhagavan dīyatāṃ mahāṃ sahasram iti gālavaḥ, ṛcīkas tu tathety uktvā varuṇasyālayaṃ gataḥ | aśvatīrthe hayān labdhvā dattavān pārthivāya vai ||

قال غالافا: «أيها المبجَّل، هبْ لي مهرَ العروس ألفَ فرسٍ عظيم، يلمع لمعان القمر، وعلى أحد الجانبين أذنٌ داكنة اللون.» فأجاب رِتشيكا: «ليكن كذلك»، ومضى إلى دار فَرُونا. وهناك، عند المَعبر المقدّس المسمّى أشفَتيرثا (Aśvatīrtha)، ظفر بتلك الخيل وقدّمها للملك على الوجه اللائق، موفيًا بما عاهد عليه بوسائل مشروعة.
