The verse teaches that disciplined completion of religious observances (pāraṇa) yields merit comparable to major Vedic sacrifices, emphasizing the ethical power of self-restraint and faithful fulfillment of vows.
Vaiśampāyana is describing the spiritual results of successive completed observances; here he states the reward for completing the third pāraṇa—attaining the fruit of a twelve-day sacrifice and long residence in heaven with godlike radiance.
