Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca | bhaviṣyati mahāsattva khyātiḥ anupatulā tava | śanaiścaraḥ sūryaputro bhaviṣyati manur mahān |
The verse affirms that true greatness expresses itself as enduring renown grounded in dharma, and that cosmic authority (Manuhood and leadership in a Manvantara) is conferred through merit and the blessing of realized elders—linking ethical stature with cosmic order.
Vaiśampāyana delivers a prophetic assurance: the addressed sage/hero will attain unmatched fame, and when Śanaiścara becomes the great Manu who initiates a future Manvantara, the addressee will, by grace, hold a foremost position among Manu’s leading associates.
