Prāyaścitta and Contextual Non-Culpability (प्रायश्चित्त-निमित्त-अदोषवाद)

कर्मभ्यो विप्रमुच्यन्ते यत्ता: संवत्सरं स्त्रिय:,स्त्रियाँ भी एक वर्षतक मिताहार एवं संयमपूर्वक रहनेपर उक्त पापकर्मोसे मुक्त हो जाती हैं। जो महाव्रतका (एक महीनेतक जल न पीनेके नियमका) पालन करता है, ब्राह्मणोंको अपना सर्वस्व समर्पित कर देता है अथवा गुरुके लिये युद्धमें मारा जाता है, वह अशुभ कर्मके बन्धनसे मुक्त हो जाता है

karmabhyo vipramucyante yattāḥ saṁvatsaraṁ striyaḥ | mitāhāra-saṁyamopetāḥ pāpakarmabhya eva ca || mahāvrataṁ yo ’nutiṣṭhet māsaṁ toyavivarjitam | brāhmaṇebhyaḥ sarvasvaṁ yo nivedayati bhaktitaḥ || guror arthe raṇe hanyāt sa pāpabandhanāt pramucyate ||

قال فياسا: «إن النساء إذا عشن سنةً كاملةً على ضبط النفس والانضباط مع طعامٍ موزون، تحرّرن من تبعات الأفعال الآثمة. وكذلك من أخذ بالعهد العظيم—الامتناع عن الماء شهرًا—ومن سلّم جميع ممتلكاته بتقوى إلى البراهمة، أو من قُتل في المعركة من أجل معلّمه، فإنه ينفكّ من قيود الأعمال المشؤومة».
