Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel (अतिथिसत्कारः प्रज्ञानवचनस्य च पराश्वासनम्)

शिपिविष्टेति चाख्यायां हीनरोमा च यो भवेत्‌ । तेनाविष्ट तु यर्त्किंचिच्छिपिविष्टेति च स्मृत:,मेरे 'शिपिविष्ट” नामकी व्याख्या इस प्रकार है। रोमहीन प्राणीको शिपि कहते हैं--तथा विष्टका अर्थ है व्यापक। मैंने निराकाररूपसे समस्त जगत्‌को व्याप्त कर रखा है, इसलिये मुझे 'शिपिविष्ट” कहते हैं

śipiviṣṭeti cākhyāyāṃ hīnaromā ca yo bhavet | tenāviṣṭa tu yat kiṃcit śipiviṣṭeti ca smṛtaḥ ||

وأمّا تفسير اللقب «Śipiviṣṭa» فهكذا: تُفهم śipi على أنها مخلوقٌ لا شعر له، وتُفهم viṣṭa بمعنى «النافذ في كل شيء، الشامل». لذلك يُذكَر من يَسري في العالم كلّه على كل وجه باسم «Śipiviṣṭa».
