Mahāvasu’s Fall by Speech-Error and Release through Devotion
tathārūpaḥ śuko jajñe prajvalann iva tejasā |
True excellence is marked by inner tejas—spiritual clarity and merit—rather than external power. The verse uses the image of blazing radiance to signal realized virtue and the fruits of austerity.
Bhīṣma describes the birth/manifestation of the sage Śuka, emphasizing that he appeared in an extraordinary, luminous form, as if aflame with his own radiance.
