Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)
अहं कर्तेति चाप्यन्यो गुणस्तत्र चतुर्दश: । ममायमिति येनायं मनन््यते न ममेति च,उस सत्त्वमें “मैं कर्ता हूँ" ऐसे अभिमानसे युक्त अहंकार नामक एक अन्य चौदहवाँ गुण है, जिससे जीवात्मा “यह वस्तु मेरी है और यह वस्तु मेरी नहीं है' ऐसा मानता है
ahaṃ karteti cāpy anyo guṇas tatra caturdaśaḥ | mamāyam iti yenāyaṃ manyate na mameti ca ||
قال بهيشما: «وهناك أيضاً صفةٌ أخرى—وهي الرابعة عشرة—تُسمّى الأناوية/الأهَنْكارا (ahaṃkāra، egoism): زهوُ القول “أنا الفاعل”. وبها يُنشئ الكائنُ المتجسّد تصوّريْ “هذا لي” و“هذا ليس لي”.»
भीष्य उवाच
Egoism (ahaṃkāra)—the conceit ‘I am the doer’—drives possessiveness and division into ‘mine’ and ‘not mine.’ Recognizing this mechanism is a step toward ethical restraint and inner freedom from attachment.
