Haṃsa–Sādhya Saṃvāda: Satya, Dama, Kṣamā and the Discipline of Speech
सम्भाव्य पुत्रान् कालेन यौवनस्थान् निवेश्य च | समर्थान् जीवने ज्ञात्वा मुक्तश्वर यथासुखम्
Sambhāvya putrān kālena yauvanasthān niveśya ca | Samarthān jīvane jñātvā mukta-snehaḥ yathāsukham ||
قال بهيشما: «في أوانه، أنجب أبناءً؛ فإذا بلغوا سنّ الشباب فأقِمْهم في الحياة بتزويجهم. فإذا علمتَ أنهم قادرون على معايشهم دون اعتماد على غيرهم، فحينئذٍ، وقد تحرّرتَ من قيود التعلّق، عِشْ في سكينة، وسِرْ حيث تشاء.»
भीष्म उवाच
Fulfil household duties responsibly—raise children to maturity, establish them through marriage and self-reliance, and then loosen possessive attachment so one can live with inner freedom and peace.
In Shanti Parva, Bhishma instructs on dharma and proper conduct. Here he gives practical guidance for a householder: beget children at the right time, settle them when grown, and, once they are independent, withdraw from excessive parental clinging.
