तृष्णाक्षय-उपदेशः

Instruction on the Cessation of Craving

चतुर्द्धारें पुरुषं चतुर्मुखं चतुर्धा चैनमुपयाति वाचा । बाहुभ्यां वाच उदरादुपस्थात्‌ तेषां द्वारं द्वारपालो बुभूषेत्‌

caturdvāre puruṣaṃ caturmukhaṃ caturdhā cainam upayāti vācā | bāhubhyāṃ vāca udarād upasthāt teṣāṃ dvāraṃ dvārapālo bubhūṣet ||

قال كَبِيلَا: «إن الإنسان كائن ذو أربعة أبواب وأربعة وجوه. ويُدنى منه بأربع طرائق عبر كلامٍ مُهذَّبٍ منضبط: بالذراعين (الأعمال)، وبالكلام نفسه، وبالبطن (الشهوة إلى الطعام)، وبالعضو المُولِّد (اندفاع الشهوة الجنسية). فليتمنَّ الإنسان أن يكون حارسَ هذه الأبواب—أي ليكبحها ويُحكم سلطانَه عليها. ووفقًا لتعاليم الشاسترا، فإن من أتقن ضبط هذه الأبواب الأربعة بلغ البوروشا الأعلى—ذي “الوجوه الأربعة” كالفيدات الأربع—عبر أربعة مسالك: طريق البهاكتي (التعبّد)، وطريق الجنانا (المعرفة)، وطريق الكارما (العمل)، ويوغا الأطراف الثمانية (الأشتانغا).»
