Release from Desire-Bondage and the Marks of Peace
saṁvibhāgo 'tra bhūtānāṁ sarveṣām eva śiṣyate | tathaivāpacamānebhyaḥ pradeyaṁ gṛhamedhinā ||
The verse teaches saṁvibhāga—fair sharing—as a dharmic rule: a householder should ensure that all beings (and specifically those engaged in preparing food) receive an appropriate portion, reflecting responsibility and generosity in domestic life.
In the didactic setting of Śānti Parva, Vyāsa states a normative rule for household conduct: distribution of food and resources is to be done conscientiously, and the gṛhastha must give to those involved in cooking and sustaining the household.
