Guru’s Instruction on Dream, Mind, Guṇas, and Knowing Brahman
Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra
पृथिवीमार्तरूपां ते समपश्यन् दिवौकस: । दानवैरभिसंस्तीर्णा घोररूपैर्महाबलै:,समूचे भूमण्डलमें भयानक रूपधारी महाबली दानव फैल गये थे। देवताओंने देखा, यह पृथ्वी दानवोंके पापभारसे पीड़ित एवं आर्त हो उठी है
pṛthivīm ārta-rūpāṃ te samapaśyan divaukasaḥ | dānavair abhisaṃstīrṇā ghorarūpair mahābalaiḥ ||
قال بهيشما: «رأى الآلهةُ الأرضَ نفسها كأنها قد أُصيبت بالأسى. وعلى امتداد دائرة العالم كانت مغمورةً ومبعثرةً فيها دانافا عظامُ القوة ذوو هيئاتٍ مروّعة؛ وكانت الأرض، المثقلة بوزن آثامهم، تبدو مقهورةً ومكدودة—إشارةً إلى أزمةٍ أخلاقية تستدعي إعادة إقامة الدارما».
भीष्म उवाच
When adharma becomes widespread, its effects are not merely personal but cosmic: the Earth is portrayed as suffering under the weight of wrongdoing. The verse frames moral disorder as a burden on the world itself, implying the ethical necessity of restoring dharma for the welfare of all beings.
Bhīṣma describes a scene where the gods observe the Earth overwhelmed by powerful, fearsome Dānavas. Their domination and sinful conduct make the Earth appear afflicted, setting the stage for divine concern and the need for corrective action to re-establish order.
