Brahmacarya-Upāya: Jñāna, Śauca, and the Mind’s Role in Desire
yāni cāhur manuṣyendra ye purāṇavido janāḥ | karmāṇi tv iha govinde kīrtayiṣyāmi tāny aham, narendra |
Bhishma grounds his forthcoming account in respected tradition: the deeds of Govinda are not private opinion but what authoritative Purāṇa-knowers commonly recount. Ethically, it models how dharma-teaching is supported by reliable sources and careful narration.
Addressing the king (Yudhishthira), Bhishma announces that he will now describe the celebrated deeds and divine exploits of Govinda (Krishna) as preserved in Purāṇic tradition, preparing the listener for a devotional-historical narration.
