Adhyāya 174: Karma as an inescapable companion (कर्मानुगमन-उपदेश)
संस्मृत्य चापि सुमहदाख्यानं भरतर्षभ । मयापि भवते सर्व यथावदनुवर्णितम्
saṃsmṛtya cāpi sumahad ākhyānaṃ bharatarṣabha | mayāpi bhavate sarvaṃ yathāvad anuvarṇitam ||
يا ثورَ آلِ بهاراتا، إذ استحضرتُ تلك الحكاية العظيمة، فقد رويتها لك كاملةً كما ينبغي أن تُروى—بأمانةٍ وفي ترتيبها القويم.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes faithful transmission of dharma-teaching through accurate recollection and proper narration—telling an account completely, truthfully, and in due order.
Bhīṣma, addressing Yudhiṣṭhira as ‘Bharatarṣabha,’ concludes or frames a teaching by stating that he has remembered a great traditional account and has narrated it to the king fully and correctly.
