Nakula’s Counsel on Yajña, Dāna, and Tyāga (नकुलोपदेशः—यज्ञदानत्यागविचारः)

Educational Q&A

A brāhmaṇa who remains within the householder stage and performs Veda-sanctioned, non-prohibited duties is protected from moral and spiritual ruin; adherence to prescribed dharma sustains stability and prevents downfall.

Nakula addresses a king and asserts a principle of varṇāśrama ethics: within the gṛhastha-āśrama, if one follows the Vedic rule that is not forbidden, a brāhmaṇa does not meet with ‘ucchitti’—destruction or decline.
