अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः
Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation
उवाच वाक्य यद् भीम: सभामध्ये विशाम्पते । कृतं तत् सफल तेन भूयश्नैव करिष्यति,'प्रजानाथ! द्यूतसभामें भीमसेनने जो बात कही थी, उसे उन्होंने सत्य कर दिखाया और जो शेष है, उसे भी वे अवश्य ही पूर्ण करेंगे

uvāca vākyaṃ yad bhīmaḥ sabhāmadhye viśāṃpate |
kṛtaṃ tat saphalaṃ tena bhūyaś caiva kariṣyati ||
قال سانجيا: يا سيد الناس، إن الكلمات التي نطق بها بهيما في وسط المجلس الملكي قد جعلها حقًّا بأفعاله. وما بقي منها فسيُتمّه لا محالة. وتُبرز الرواية القوة الأخلاقية للكلمة الموعودة: ففي أتون الحرب يظهر قسم بهيما في قاعة النرد لا كغضبٍ عابر، بل كالتزامٍ مُلزِم يسعى به إلى ردّ الحق وإقامة العدل، ومواجهة الإهانة بفعلٍ مسؤول.
