Kapālamocana-tīrtha (Auśanasa) and Balarāma’s Sarasvatī Pilgrimage
सप्तसारस्वतं तीर्थ ततस्तु प्रथितं भुवि । फिर ये सातों सरस्वतियाँ एकत्र होकर उस तीर्थमें आयी थीं, इसीलिये इस भूतलपर 'सप्तसारस्वततीर्थके नामसे उसकी प्रसिद्धि हुई!
saptasārasvataṃ tīrthaṃ tatastu prathitaṃ bhuvi |
قال فَيْشَمْبَايَنَة: ثم إنَّ ذلك المَعْبَرَ المقدّس ذاع صيتُه في الأرض باسم «سَبْتَسَارَسْوَتَ تِيرْثَة»، لأنهم كانوا يعتقدون أنّ الجداول السبعة لسَرَسْوَتِي قد اجتمعت في ذلك الموضع المقدّس بعينه.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic value of tīrthas: sacred places gain authority through remembered tradition and shared belief, guiding people toward purification, restraint, and reverence for holy geography.
Vaiśaṃpāyana explains why a particular pilgrimage site is called ‘Saptasārasvata’: it is famed because seven Sarasvatī streams are said to have converged there, making it a celebrated tīrtha.
