Report of the Night Raid and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament
ity evam ārtaḥ paridevayan sa rājā kurūṇāṃ nakulaṃ babhāṣe | gacchānayainām iha mandabhāgyāṃ samātṛpakṣām iti rājaputrīm ||
Even in extreme sorrow after violence, one should act with dharmic responsibility—gathering and protecting family, maintaining propriety, and ensuring that the afflicted are not left unsupported.
In the wake of tragedy, Yudhiṣṭhira, overwhelmed with grief, speaks to Nakula and instructs him to bring Draupadī—described as unfortunate—along with her maternal-side women/kin to the place where the Pāṇḍavas are gathered.
