Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
ततस्तुष्टौी महात्मानौ सहदेवाय वानरौ । ऊचतुश्चैव संह्ृष्टौ प्रीतिपूर्वमिदं वच:,तब वे दोनों महात्मा वानर अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हो सहदेवसे प्रेमपूर्वक बोले--
tatas tuṣṭau mahātmānau sahadevāya vānarau | ūcatuś caiva saṁhṛṣṭau prītipūrvam idaṁ vacaḥ ||
ثم إن القِردين الجليلين، وقد غمرتهما السعادة والرضا، خاطبا سَهَديفا بفرحٍ وبكلامٍ مفعمٍ بالمودّة—
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical speech: approval and counsel should be offered with prīti (goodwill) and respectful joy, showing that right communication is grounded in benevolent intention.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that two noble vānaras become pleased and delighted, and then speak affectionately to Sahadeva, introducing the words they are about to say.
