Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the outward equality of two supreme warriors—both marked by royal insignia and martial stature—suggesting that in war, splendor and power can be evenly matched, while the deeper ethical weight lies in intention, duty (kṣatriya-dharma), and the consequences of the coming violence.

Sañjaya describes two great chariot-warriors facing each other, each with a famed charioteer—Kṛṣṇa for one side and Śalya for the other—both similarly adorned with white parasols and ceremonial fans, signaling a climactic, evenly poised confrontation.
