vyākulīkṛtam atyarthaṁ parasainyaṁ kirīṭinā | nānāmṛga-sahasrāṇāṁ yūthaṁ kesariṇāṁ yathā ||
لقد أوقع أرجونا، صاحب التاج، جيشَ العدو في اضطرابٍ شديد—كما يُلقي الأسدُ الرعبَ في قطيعٍ من آلاف الظباء على اختلاف أصنافها.
अजुन उवाच
The verse highlights how steadfast valor and focused purpose can morally and psychologically dominate a battlefield: a disciplined champion can break the cohesion of a larger opposing force, just as a lion’s presence scatters a herd.
In the Karṇa Parva battle sequence, Arjuna’s assault is described as causing severe disarray in the opposing army; the poet intensifies the scene through a vivid simile comparing the enemy host to a herd of deer and Arjuna’s impact to that of a lion.
