Reporting Karṇa’s Fall to Yudhiṣṭhira
tat tathā prakariṣyāmi yathā māṃ vakṣyate bhavān |
The verse highlights disciplined obedience and ethical deference to rightful authority: one should act after discerning what is proper (ucita) and, when guided by a wiser elder who understands consequences (past and future), carry out the instruction without ego or deviation.
Sanjaya, the royal messenger and narrator, addresses the king (implicitly Dhritarashtra) with respect, stating that he will act exactly as the king directs. He asks what should be done at this critical moment, acknowledging the king’s supposed foresight and authority.
