Even amid conflict, dharma requires restraint: the ability to govern powerful energies (symbolized by the horses) so that action remains directed and not driven by uncontrolled force.
Bhīṣma (addressed as Pitāmaha) declares that he will take charge of restraining the horses associated with Kapardin (Śiva) during the fighting, emphasizing his role as a stabilizing, controlling presence in the chaos of battle.
