Even in war, true greatness is measured not only by strength but by the union of kṣatriya valor with brāhmaṇa-like discernment; Sanjaya frames the conflict as ethically weighty and historically unparalleled because it involves warriors of exceptional insight.
Sanjaya, narrating the battlefield events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, pauses to marvel at the extraordinary nature of the combat, declaring that such a battle will never occur again and emphasizing the remarkable knowledge and capability of the two principal combatants being described.
