Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not teach a new doctrine directly; it frames the narrative ethically by highlighting that the chapter’s events are organized around a pratijñā (solemn vow), a key dharmic theme in the Mahābhārata where promises bind warriors to difficult choices and consequences.

This is the formal closing statement of the chapter: it identifies the larger book (Droṇa Parva), the internal subsection (Pratijñā Parva), and the chapter’s topic (Arjuna’s dream), marking the completion of Adhyāya 80.
