Droṇa’s Fall: Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Inquiry
एते चान्ये च बहवो ध्वजा हेमविभूषिता: । तत्रादृश्यन्त शूराणां द्विषतां शोकवर्धना:,ये तथा और भी बहुत-सी राजाओंकी सुवर्णभूषित ध्वजाएँ वहाँ दिखायी देती थीं, जो शत्रुओंका शोक बढ़ानेवाली थीं
ete cānye ca bahavo dhvajā hemavibhūṣitāḥ | tatrādṛśyanta śūrāṇāṃ dviṣatāṃ śokavardhanāḥ ||
قال سنجيا: «وهناك شوهدت رايات كثيرة أخرى أيضًا—ألوية مزينة بالذهب—لأبطال أشداء، وكان مجرد منظرها يزيد أعداءهم حزنًا.»
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how external symbols of power—like richly adorned battle-standards—affect morale: they embolden one side and deepen the despair of the other, showing that war is fought not only with weapons but also through psychological impact.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield scene to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: numerous gold-decorated banners of heroic warriors are visible, and their presence is portrayed as a cause of increased grief for the opposing side.
