Shloka 293

yatra yudhyāmahe sarve dhanalobhāt samāgatāḥ |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how greed (dhanalobha) can distort judgment and undermine dharma: when the motive for action is mere acquisition, even a socially sanctioned duty like warfare loses moral grounding and becomes ethically suspect.

Duryodhana reflects on the battle situation, stating that they have all gathered and are fighting driven by desire for wealth—an admission that the conflict is propelled by material craving rather than a higher righteous purpose.
