Educational Q&A

The verse asserts that when one’s lineage and conduct are pure and one acts with discernment, even participation in war can be framed as dharma—duty performed without moral stain—aimed at a higher destiny rather than personal gain.

Sañjaya reports to the king that certain warriors, described as noble and blameless, have committed themselves to fighting in what is presented as a dharma-guided battle, motivated by the hope of attaining the highest posthumous or spiritual state.
