The verse highlights the ethical force of a warrior’s vow and resolve in battle: the Saṃśaptakas are portrayed as bound by their pledge to fight without retreat, and Arjuna recognizes this steadfastness and responds with decisive leadership—asking Kṛṣṇa to advance directly toward them.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna sees the Saṃśaptaka contingent returning to engage again. Interpreting their intent as uncompromising, Arjuna instructs his charioteer Kṛṣṇa (Hṛṣīkeśa) to drive the chariot toward them, anticipating they will not leave the battlefield alive.
