Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds the ethical weight of lineage and competence: one born in a noble kṣatriya line and trained in all weapons is expected to act with courage, responsibility, and fidelity to dharma even under provocation in war.

In the heat of the Drona-parvan battle, Bhīma addresses Dṛṣṭadyumna. He begins by identifying him as Drupada’s descendant and an unrivaled master of arms—setting up either a forceful encouragement to strike decisively or a rebuke framed through Dṛṣṭadyumna’s status and duty.
