The verse highlights disciplined power in the service of one’s chosen duty: Droṇa’s ‘smokeless fire’ suggests intensity without wavering—focused energy and command. Ethically, it also frames the battlefield as a place where resolve and responsibility operate under grave moral consequences.
Sañjaya describes Droṇa taking his position in the battle, moving toward the northern side and standing there in a fearsome, radiant manner—likened to a smokeless, blazing fire—signaling his readiness to direct and intensify the fight.
