The verse highlights the kṣatriya ideal of steadfast courage: even when facing renowned strength (Bhīma) and superior weapon-skill (Arjuna), warriors may choose to stand their ground and assert their own honor. Ethically, it underscores how pride and resolve can drive action in war—sometimes admirable as bravery, sometimes perilous as disregard for reality.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra while addressing Kṛṣṇa as “Mādhava”: the Kaurava fighters, instead of being intimidated by Bhīma’s physical might and Arjuna’s extraordinary weaponry, are pressing forward and matching them in battle, exhibiting their own prowess.
