vṛtaḥ śatena śūrāṇāṁ rathānām anivartinām | putraḥ pāñcālarājasya dhṛṣṭadyumno mahārathaḥ ||

The verse highlights steadfastness under pressure: true valor in dharma-based warfare is shown by those who do not turn back (anivartin) even when outnumbered, and by leaders who endure encirclement without abandoning their duty.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Dhṛṣṭadyumna, the Pāñcāla commander and a foremost chariot-warrior, has been hemmed in by a hundred resolute chariot-fighters, indicating an intense tactical moment where he is being targeted and pressed from all sides.
