Adhyāya 16: Saṃśaptaka-vrata and the Diversion of Arjuna (द्रोणपर्व, अध्याय १६)
तत् प्रभग्नं बल॑ दृष्टवा शत्रुभिर्भुशमर्दितम् । अलं द्रुतेन वः शूरा इति दोणो5भ्यभाषत,शत्रुओंके द्वारा अच्छी तरह रौंदी गयी आपकी सेनाको भागती देख द्रोणाचार्यने कहा --“शूरवीरो! तुम भागो मत, इससे कोई लाभ न होगा”
tat prabhagnaṁ balaṁ dṛṣṭvā śatrubhir bhṛśam arditam | alaṁ drutena vaḥ śūrā iti droṇo 'bhyabhāṣata ||
قال سَنْجَيا: لما رأى دْرونا جيشك مُحطَّماً وقد داسه العدو دَوْساً شديداً وهو يفرّ، خاطبهم قائلاً: «كفى فراراً، يا أبطال—فالفرار لا يجلب لكم خيراً.» وفي الإطار الأخلاقي للملحمة، إنما هي دعوةٌ إلى الثبات وأداء الواجب في القتال، لا إلى الهلع والنجاة بالنفس عبر الهرب.
