द्रोणकर्णयोः निशि संप्रहारः — Night Engagement with Droṇa and Karṇa
ध्वजाश्छत्राणि चापानि चामराणि शिरांसि च | बड़े-बड़े हाथी और घोड़े सब ओर धराशायी होने लगे। ध्वज, छत्र, धनुष, चँवर तथा योद्धाओंके मस्तक कट-कटकर गिरने लगे
dhvajāś chatrāṇi cāpāni cāmarāṇi śirāṃsi ca |
قال سانجيا: «الرايات والمظلات، الأقواس ومراوح ذيل الياك، بل وحتى رؤوس المحاربين—كانت تُقطع وتسقط. وفي كل ناحية كانت الفيلة العظام والخيول تنهار في ساحة القتال.»
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the brutal impermanence of worldly power: royal insignia (flags, parasols, fans) and weapons fall together with the warriors themselves, reminding the listener that status and might collapse in the face of death and the consequences of war.
Sañjaya describes the intensity of the fighting: severed heads and shattered emblems of kingship tumble down, while elephants and horses are struck down across the field, conveying a scene of widespread slaughter and disarray.
