स्वलंकृतं क्षिती क्षुण्णं चेष्टमानं यथोरगम्

قال سنجيا: «(كان يبدو) متزينًا بالحُليّ، ومع ذلك مسحوقًا على الأرض—يتلوّى كالأفعى». تُبرز هذه العبارة التباين الأخلاقي القاسي في الحرب: فحتى المحارب المهيب في عُدّته، إذا صُرِع، انحدر إلى عذابٍ عاجز، يذكّر السامع بهشاشة الكِبر وبفداحة ثمن العنف.
