Duryodhana–Karna Dialogue on Vyūha-bheda and Daiva
तस्य द्रोणो महाराज स्वर्णपुड्खान् शिलाशितान् । प्रेषयामास संक़्रुद्ध: सायकान् दश पठ्च च,महाराज! तब द्रोणने अत्यन्त कुपित हो सानपर चढ़ाकर तेज किये हुए सोनेके पंखवाले पंद्रह बाणोंका बृहत्क्षत्रपर प्रहार किया
tasya droṇo mahārāja svarṇapuḍkhān śilāśitān | preṣayāmāsa saṅkruddhaḥ sāyakān daśa pañca ca ||
قال سانجيا: ثم إنّ درونا، أيها الملك، وقد اشتعل غضبًا، أرسل إليه خمسَ عشرةَ سَهْمًا—مُسنَّنةً على الحجر ومُريَّشةً بريشٍ ذهبي—قذفها بقصدٍ قاتل.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how anger (krodha) intensifies harm in conflict: when a warrior acts from rage, force becomes more lethal and the cycle of retaliation deepens, reminding readers that inner restraint is ethically significant even amid dharma-yuddha.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa, furious, shoots fifteen arrows at his opponent—described as stone-sharpened and gold-fletched—signaling a fierce escalation in the duel.
