Duryodhana–Karna Dialogue on Vyūha-bheda and Daiva
ततो द्रोणो महाराज नाम विश्राव्य संयुगे । शरैरनेकसाहसी: पाण्डवेयान् समावृणोत्,महाराज! तदनन्तर द्रोणाचार्यने युद्धस्थलमें अपना नाम सुनाकर अनेक सहस्र बाणोंद्वारा पाण्डव-सैनिकोंको ढक दिया
tato droṇo mahārāja nāma viśrāvya saṁyuge | śarair aneka-sāhasrīḥ pāṇḍaveyān samāvṛṇot ||
قال سانجيا: ثم إن دروناآتشاريّا، أيها الملك، نادى باسمه في ساحة الوغى، وغطّى جموعَ الباندڤا من كل جانب بوابلٍ لا يُحصى من السهام.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how reputation, skill, and resolve can shape the battlefield, while also pointing to the ethical tension of dharma in war: even disciplined duty, when expressed through overwhelming force, multiplies suffering and tests the moral limits of righteous conduct.
Droṇa, acting as a leading commander, announces himself in the midst of combat and unleashes massive volleys of arrows, effectively blanketing and pressing the Pāṇḍava troops, signaling a surge in intensity and tactical dominance at that moment.
