श्यामो युवा गुडाकेशो दर्शनीयश्व पाण्डव:,निद्राविजयी पाण्डुकुमार अर्जुन श्यामवर्णवाला दर्शनीय तरुण है। वह शीघ्रतापूर्वक अस्त्र चलाता और विचित्र रीतिसे युद्ध करता है। तात! उस महाबाहु वीरने सूर्योदयके समय अकेले ही कौरवी-सेनामें प्रवेश किया था और अब दिन बीतता चला जा रहा है

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | śyāmo yuvā guḍākeśo darśanīyaś ca pāṇḍavaḥ | nidrāvijayī pāṇḍukumāro 'rjunaḥ śyāmavarṇavān darśanīyas taruṇaḥ | sa śīghratāpūrvakam astrāṇi prayuṅkte vicitrarītyā ca yudhyate | tāta! tena mahābāhunā vīreṇa sūryodaye ekākī kauravī-senāyāṃ praveśaḥ kṛtaḥ, idānīṃ ca divaso vyatīyate ||

قال يودهيشثيرا: «أرجونا، غوداكيشا الفتى الأسمر—أبهى الباندافا، وقاهر النوم—يُطلق السلاح بسرعةٍ مُحكمة ويقاتل بحِيَلٍ عجيبة. يا أبتِ! عند شروق الشمس دخل ذلك البطل عظيم الساعدين وحده في جيش الكاورافا، وها هو النهار يمضي على مهلٍ لا يرحم».
