The verse highlights an ethical warning: privilege and constant honor can inflate ego, and even genuine capability (kṛtī) becomes morally distorted when joined with persistent hatred toward one’s own kin. Such dveṣa undermines dharma and drives destructive choices.
Vāyudeva addresses Arjuna (Pārtha) and characterizes Duryodhana as a celebrated, comfort-raised great warrior who nevertheless harbors continual enmity toward his relatives—framing Duryodhana’s hostility as deep-rooted and enduring.
