The verse highlights the grim irony of war: objects crafted for glory and power—gold-adorned weapons—end up scattered and falling, reminding the listener of the fragility of worldly splendor and the heavy cost of conflict.
Sanjaya narrates to Dhritarashtra the battlefield scene where splendid, gold-decorated maces, fitted with bright bands, are seen falling down, compared in appearance to mountain peaks.
