भीष्म-युधिष्ठिर-संमर्दः

Bhīṣma’s Pressure on Yudhiṣṭhira; Śikhaṇḍī’s Approach; Evening Withdrawal

उसके इस प्रकार करनेपर अपने भाईके पास खड़ा हुआ दुष्कर्ण क्रोधसे व्याकुल हो उठा। उसने समरभूमिमें नकुलपुत्र शतानीकका धनुष काट दिया ।। अथान्यद्‌ धनुरादाय भारसाहमनुत्तमम्‌ | समादत्त शरान्‌ घोरान्‌ शतानीको महाबल:,तब महाबली शतानीकने भार सहन करनेमें समर्थ दूसरा अत्यन्त उत्तम धनुष लेकर उसपर भयंकर बाणोंका अनुसंधान किया

atha anyad dhanur ādāya bhārasāham anuttamam | samādatta śarān ghorān śatānīko mahābalaḥ ||

قال سنجيا: فلما فُعِل به ذلك، اضطرب شاتانيكا—ابن ناكولا—وهو قائمٌ إلى جوار أخيه، واشتعل غضباً. ثم إن شاتانيكا ذا البأس العظيم، القادر على احتمال شدّة الأسلحة الثقيلة، تناول قوساً آخر بالغ الجودة، وأعدّ عليه سهاماً مروّعة، فعاد إلى القتال ثابتاً—مظهراً عزمَ المحارب على متابعة واجبه في ساحة الحرب رغم الفقد المفاجئ.
