Yudhiṣṭhira–Śrutāyu encounter; Cekitāna–Gautama clash; Abhimanyu pressure; Arjuna’s redeployment

saṃprāpya madhyaṃ sainyastha na bhīḥ pāṇḍavam āviśat | yathā devāsure yuddhe mahendraṃ prāpya dānavān ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣātra-dharma in its ideal form: steadfast courage and composure in the face of overwhelming danger. Bhīma’s fearlessness is framed as a righteous, duty-aligned resolve rather than reckless aggression, reinforced through a divine comparison to Indra’s unshaken presence in cosmic battle.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Bhīmasena has penetrated into the center of the Kaurava forces, yet remains completely unafraid. To convey the intensity and confidence of this moment, he compares Bhīma to Indra, who feels no fear even when confronted by the Dānavas in the gods-versus-asuras war.
