अध्याय ५५ — भीष्मस्य प्रचण्डविक्रमः, अर्जुनप्रत्युत्तरं, कृष्णस्य चक्रोद्यतिः
Chapter 55: Bhīṣma’s onslaught, Arjuna’s counter, and Kṛṣṇa’s raised discus
अपर्याप्तं॑ तदस्माकं बल॑ भीष्माभिरक्षितम् | पर्याप्तमिदमेतेषां बल॑ भीमाभिरक्षितम्,'भीष्मपितामहके द्वारा सुरक्षित हमारी वह सेना सब प्रकारसे अजेय है, परन्तु भीमसेनके द्वारा सुरक्षित इन पाण्डवोंकी यह सेना जीतनेमें सुगम है; अतः मेरी राय है कि संस्थान, शूरसेन, वेत्रिक, कुकुर, आरोचक, त्रिगर्त, मद्रक तथा यवन आदि देशोंके लोग शत्रुंजय, दुःशासन, वीर विकर्ण, नन््द, उपनन्द, चित्रसेन तथा पारिभद्रक वीरोंके साथ जाकर अपनी सेनाको आगे रखते हुए भीष्मकी ही रक्षा करें!
aparyāptaṁ tad asmākaṁ balaṁ bhīṣmābhirakṣitam | paryāptam idam eteṣāṁ balaṁ bhīmābhirakṣitam ||
«إن جيشنا، المحروس ببهِيشما، يبدو غيرَ متناهٍ وعسيرَ الغلبة؛ أمّا جيشهم، المحروس ببهِيمَ، فيبدو محدودًا، ولذلك أيسرَ قهرًا.»
