The verse underscores the grim reality of war: prowess and weapon-skill culminate in strikes to the body’s vital points, producing not only physical destruction but an atmosphere of terror. Implicitly, it frames battle as a domain where ethical stakes are high and the cost of violence is palpable.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield moment when warriors swing and hurl their swords; as the blades land on opponents’ vital spots, a fierce, tumultuous clamor rings out—conveying the intensity and lethality of the fighting.
