Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
bhīṣma uvāca
nainaṃ paśyāmi kaunteya yo māṃ yudhyantam āhave |
vijayet pumān kaścit sākṣād api śatakratuḥ ||
The verse highlights the warrior’s self-assurance and the ideal of steadfastness in battle, while also implying the extraordinary power attributed to Bhishma; ethically, it frames martial prowess as a decisive factor in war, even when set against divine comparison (Indra).
Bhishma addresses a ‘Kaunteya’ on the battlefield context, declaring that no human opponent can defeat him while he is engaged in combat, asserting that even Indra himself would not be able to overcome him in war.
